Firefighters have knockdown on a brush fire near the Oak Tree gun club on the southbound side of I-5. All lanes are open on the freeway and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which was the lead of the multiagency response, has declared knockdown on the fire.

Firefighters held the burn area to 10 acres. Unstable winds in the Newhall Pass made some of the knockdown efforts difficult. Fire and sheriff personnel evacuated the Oak Tree Gun Club and the Camelot Riding Stables in the area of the fire.

The fire is one of several that broke out this afternoon along the I-5, fires were reported at the 405-5 split, and at Valencia Boulevard. Those fire were quickly knocked down. Because of the suspicious circumstances, arson investigators are enroute to the scene.
