UPDATED: Edison Fixing Equipment, Powers Down Valencia High

A power outage to allow Edison crews to repair equipment near Valencia High School is expected to continue until 10 p.m. tonight, according to a spokeswoman.

 

Edison officials announced the emergency outage at noon and said it would affect 716 customers near Decoro Drive west of Sunny Creek Drive; customer include the school, residences and some nearby businesesses.

According to Edison spokeswoman Anna Frutos-Sanchez, the outage is required to allow crews to fix equipment damaged in an early-morning traffic accident.

William S. Hart District spokeswoman Gail Pinsker said that Valencia High would remain open despite the lack of power. She also reported that the traffic accident that caused the outage involved a Valencia student enroute to school who was not injured in the solo vehicle incident; she added that the uninjured student, after checking with parents, attended school as usual.
