UPDATED 2:45 p.m. Sheriff’s official report that the ax-wielding suspect is still at large, despite attempts to locate him.
Deputies in Castaic are on the hunt for a man with an ax who swung it at a woman during a domestic dispute this morning.
Two children were in the house when the assault occurred in the 32700 block of Ridge Top Lane, but they ran to the safety of a neighbor’s home.
The victim, who sheriff’s authorities said was the suspect’s wife or girlfriend, said the suspect swing the ax at her during a dispute. She fled the home to safety as well.

The suspect, Charles Monterosa, is described as a male white, 26, 6 feet in height and weighing 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt and blue jeans. Deputies have searched the home and determined that the suspect is not in the house.
