UPDATED Tuesday 2:47 p.m.
You could say that traffic was “boxed in” this morning for several hours, as California Highway Patrol officers and Caltrans worked to clear an early-morning traffic accident on the southbound I-5 at Roxford Street, where two big rigs – one carrying cardboard and the other onions – crashed and overturned, blocking all lanes of the freeway.
The problem started at 3:58 a.m. and caused major problems throughout the day causing major problems during morning rush hour.
Southbound traffic was restricted to the right shoulder for most of the morning; several commuters reported on social networking sites that it took as long as 2 1/2 hours to get from the Santa Clarita Valley to downtown Los Angeles.
