UPDATED 10 a.m. Friday
A set of bones initially thought to be human turned out to be canine skeletal remains.
The bones were found Thursday afternoon in the open space area of Walker Ranch.
According to Lt. Robert Lewis of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station, city workers doing some cleanup near the entrance to the ranch were attempting to remove a piece of carpeting embedded in the mud.
When they removed the carpet, bones fell out and sheriff’s deputies called to the area thought they were human.
