UPDATED: Woman Dies In Early Morning Soledad Canyon Road Crash

A woman died Sunday morning when she was ejected from her vehicle on Soledad Canyon Road.

Det. Mike Shapiro, a traffic investigator for the SCV Sheriff’s station, said that the victim was Amber Popiel, 30, of Canyon Country.

Shapiro said that the circumstances of the single-vehicle collision were still under investigation and that they had not ascertained whether or not alcohol was involved.

Popiel was thrown from her car when it hit a tree on the westbound side of Soledad Canyon Road near Lost Canyon Road shortly before 1:30 a.m. Shapiro said that it has been confirmed that this was a single vehicle, single victim collision.

The impact of the collision split the car in two.

She was declared dead at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
