UPDATED 3:32 p.m. All lanes are open on Sierra Highway and Linda Vista Drive, after a daylong cleanup from a morning accident that resulted in a downed power pole and live wires in the street.
According to Lt. Joseph Efflandt of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station, a 41- year old woman fell asleep at the wheel of her 1993 Aerostar van and hit a power pole on Sierra Highway, knocking it over, shortly before 9 a.m.

The single-vehicle accident occured just south of the Canyon Country campus of College of the Canyons and the live wires in the street caused all traffic lanes to be closed for several hours.
Students and staff needing access to COC were detoured via Sand Canyon Road or Vasquez Canyon. The driver was not injured in the crash.
