Updates On Cross Valley Connector

What gets finished when?

The City recently opened yet another segment of the Cross Valley Connector closest to Interstate 5, five months ahead of schedule.  Now, with seven of the nine segments open, we are even closer to connecting State Route 14 and Interstate 5, providing a new way to travel across our Valley and easing traffic congestion valley-wide.

The following are updates on each segment:

A groundbreaking event was held on April 23 for the "Gap Closure" segment of Newhall Ranch Road, connecting the Interstate 5/State Route 126 Interchange with Copper Hill Drive. Originally scheduled to open in the fall, accelerated construction enabled the City to open the segment in the spring, five months ahead of schedule.  This segment now allows motorists to travel from Interstate 5/State Route 126 to Bouquet Canyon Road.

The remaining link between Bouquet Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road consists of two projects.  The first project, from Newhall Ranch Road at Bouquet Canyon Road along the River Park development project, is well underway, with a short segment already opened to the public.  The entire segment is set to be complete this year.

The City will oversee the second project and final link of the Connector by constructing an 1100-foot bridge over the Santa Clara River.  Currently, the bridge is under design and environmental review.  Construction will commence in 2008 and when complete will link the entire 8.5-mile Cross Valley Connector.
