One man is in custody and one man is in the hospital after a fight at a party in Val Verde Friday night.

Lt. Joseph Efflandt of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said that Jesus Youguez Sanchez was at a gathering at a home in the 30000 block of Jusatmere Street in Val Verde when he got into a fight with another man and stabbed him in the abdomen.

A third party intervened and Sanchez sustained lacerations to the face and head.

Both men were taken to the hospital; Sanchez received stitches to his ear and was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Station on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, where he remains in custody.

The victim was admitted to the hospital, but his wounds were not life-threatening. The intervening party left before deputies could talk with him and is being sought by investigators. Efflandt said that the attack did not seem to be gang-related.
