Valencia Boulevard To Be Closed For Accident Re-Creation

khts_trafficalertTraffic investigators will be closing a portion of Valencia Boulevard Friday morning to re-create the accident that took the life of a Newhall mother who was watching fireworks Sunday night with her family.

Detective Jeff Maag of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said that the City will close down Valencia Boulevard between Citrus Street and McBean Parkway at 1 a.m. He said the closure is scheduled to last until 5 a.m., but he expects the street may be opened sooner.

Matilde Garnica, 43, died instantly when a white Infiniti sedan careened into the crowd of spectators. The driver of the Infiniti allegedly ran the red light at Valencia and Mall Entrance, striking an SUV and losing control of her vehicle.
