Victim described as friendly, teens find body in car after minimum day release.
UPDATE: After further investigation, Sheriff's Homicide Detectives discovered that Anthony Lombardi was shot with a gun, not stabbed. This information was revealed after the original post of this article on hometownstation.com.
Valencia
resident Anthony Lombardi, 55, was stabbed to death Tuesday morning in the driveway
of his Undine Road home.
Lombardi’s body, which was partially in the driver’s seat of
his car, was found by three teenagers coming home from a minimum day at school.
Detectives took the three to the sheriff’s station for questioning.
Homicide Lt. Dave Coleman said that Lombardi had been
stabbed multiple times in the upper torso. He added that no weapon was found,
nor were any suspects in custody.
Neighbors said that Lombardi was a friendly man who would
wave in greeting when they went by and that he was single, but had adult
children and two well-behaved pit bull dogs. They said he had a business
servicing ATM machines, but detectives did not indicate if robbery was involved
in the murder.
Early in the afternoon, detectives stretched crime scene
tape across Velan Drive at Golf
Course Road, blocking access to all but law enforcement
vehicles. A woman clad in turquoise scrubs driving an SUV stopped at the
barricade and told deputies her Undine Road
address, which they recognized as the victim’s location. They asked her to park
and wait for awhile; after approximately 15 minutes, the woman attempted to
drive away, but deputies stopped her. After a female friend arrived, sheriff’s
officials told the woman that her father had been killed and she collapsed in
her friend’s arms.
