Valley’s Best To Sing Their Hearts Out

Students from all around Santa Clarita to participate.

The Santa Clarita Choral Educators 22nd Annual Choral Music  Festival will be held on Monday, April 30, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hart High  School Auditorium.

 

Over 500 students from 13 local schools will be participating:
Sierra Vista Junior High School Chorus – Jenni Frias, director Castaic Middle School Choir – Jan Wakelin, director Rancho Pico Junior High School Choir – Molly Peters, director Placerita Junior High School Chorus – Kathryn Spula, director Santa Clarita Christian School Women's Choir and Honors Ensemble – Aaron Kilian, director Golden Valley High School Golden Gals, Rachael Singleton, director West Ranch High School Concert Choir – Molly Peters, director Saugus High School Concert Choir – April Dooley, director Valencia High School Concert Choir – Christine Enns, director Hart High School Choir – Gail Hart, director Canyon High School Concert Choir – Mary Purdy, director College of the Canyons  Chamber Singers and Les Chanteuses – Julie
Lawson, director The Master's College Chorale – Dr. Paul Plew, director.

The Festival will be adjudicated by Shirley Nute of Crescenta Valley High School, who recently was honored with the Howard Swan Award "in recognition of inspirational service to the art of choral directing."

Auditions for SCCEA music awards were held in March; three college scholarships and one study grant will be presented at the Festival. The grand finale of the concert will be "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" sung by all the combined choirs.

Tickets are $8.00. The concert will be broadcast and podcast on local radio station KHTS 1220 on Sunday, May 13, 2007, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
