Vegas, NYC And Santa Clarita To Collide On New Year’s Eve

As always, on New Year’s Eve, New York City and Las Vegas will be flooded with exuberant and spirited out-of-towners. However, due to the distance and current weather conditions, many Santa Clarita residents planning to make either jaunt are opting to stay local, but really, they’re all the better for it.

By attending “Casino Circle of Hope,” attendees have the chance to experience both Vegas and Big Apple celebrations simultaneously, and won’t need to leave the Santa Clarita Valley.

Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Catholic Parish will host the inaugural event from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on December 31.

Surrounded by blackjack, poker and craps tables and a full slate of entertainment, attendees will celebrate with a champagne toast and watch the ball drop in New York City at 9 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. (This leaves ample time to count down with the rest of the West Coast at home.)

“Everyone is going to be extremely surprised that we are really working hard to turn that place into a casino,” said Ray Tippet, Executive Director of the Circle of Hope, a local nonprofit that provides financial assistance to underinsured and uninsured patients suffering from breast cancer.

With two full bars, all-night dancing and Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra impersonators, Santa Clarita will embody the Vegas of the ’50s for one night.

“When you walk into the building it’s not going to be where you think, ‘I’m walking into a hall.’ We’re going to completely transform the entire building,” said Tippet.

As the evening rolls on, guests will be treated to a buffet and special surprises, Tippet said.

Packages are available for eight people (full table, $920), four people (half-table, $480) and couples ($225). Individual tickets cost $125.

All proceeds will benefit the Circle of Hope.

“The money is staying in the Santa Clarita Valley. It’s for those people diagnosed (with breast cancer) today that are underinsured; it’s for those people diagnosed today that don’t have any insurance that we can help,” said Tippet. “It’s making a difference today.”
