Local veterans are invited to participate in several events commemorating their service and offering support, all scheduled around next week’s Veteran’s Day.

JOB FAIR –

The City of Santa Clarita invites veterans and local job seekers to its monthly Worksource Job Fair on Tuesday, November 10 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Santa Clarita Worksource Center at 20655 Soledad Canyon Road, Ste. 25. For information, call the center at 424-1062.

.Veterans can qualify for a Notice of Eligibility, which can aid in their job search, and offer them priority status through the Workforce Investment Act, a federally funded program created to assist job seekers through personalized job search assistance and/or possible employment retraining.

“Businesses located in the Enterprise Zone that employ veterans can save up to $37,000 on their State Income Tax, as well as gain knowledgeable employees with extensive occupational experience,” said Mayor Frank Ferry.  “Today’s military veterans possess exemplary skill sets because military training schools teach a wide array of technological, leadership, sales, management, and operations skills.”

VETERANS DAY CEREMONY –

The Santa Clarita City Council invites the community, and especially its veterans to attend ceremonies at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Veterans Historical Plaza on Walnut Street at Market in Old Town Newhall.
