Victim Of Weekend Crash Identified, Witnesses Sought

A Saugus man died in a two-car crash Saturday afternoon on Plum Canyon Road.

According to Officer John Lutz of the California Highway Patrol, Garrett Brixon, 19, of Valencia, was driving a Dodge Durango SUV westbound on Plum Canyon Road and traveling at an unknown speed, approaching the intersection at Santa Catarina Road.

Driving a 2005 Scion XB, Jeffrey Laird, 41, was traveling eastbound on Plum Canyon and made a left turn into the path of the Durango onto northbound Santa Catarina Road.

The two vehicles collided in the intersection and Laird was declared dead at the scene. Brixon was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital with major injuries.

The accident is still under investigation; anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Delgaco at the CHP Newhall office (661-294-5540)
