Violence Against Women To Be Discussed By Zonta

Human trafficking subject of panel discussion.

Violence against women and trafficking of women and children may seem far removed from a suburb of Santa Clarita, but a panel organized by Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley will bring those topics into the open on Sunday, Feb. 24.

The seminar, “Our Community…Our World,” will feature panelists who deal with these issues on both a local and regional basis. The program is scheduled for 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Valencia Hills clubhouse, 24060 Oak Vale Dr., in Valencia. The public is welcome to attend.

Panelists include Olivia Rodriguez executive director of the L.A. County Domestic Violence Council; Tracy Cormier, Anti-smuggling Unit group supervisor with the Department of Immigration and customs Enforcement; Susan Hayward, from the L.A. County Probation Department; and Lois Bauccio, foundation director for the SCV Child & Family Center.

Zonta Club of SCV is a local chapter of Zonta International, which deals with violence against women and human trafficking on an international basis. The panel discussion is an attempt to bring the topic home for local discussion as well.

Reservations may be called to  Barbara Stearns-Cochran at 252-9351.
