Visitor Use Survey In Angeles National Forest Begins Friday

Forest_Service

Forest Service employees want to know how you feel about your visit to Angeles National Forest.

As part of the National Visitor Use Monitoring program, a survey will begin October 1 in many areas of Angeles National Forest. Exit interviews with Forest visitors will be conducted to solicit honest feedback on the service and facilities provided during their visit.

Employees and contractors conducting the interviews will be stationed near signs that say “Traffic Survey Ahead.” Information contained in the survey is confidential. No names are written down or collected.

The interviews are voluntary and will take about 6 to 12 minutes. Questions will include: Where did you recreate on the Forest? How many people traveled with you? How long did you spend on the Forest? What recreation activities did you engage in while on the Forest? How satisfied are you with facilities and services provided?

This on-going visitor-use survey is conducted every five years in all national forests. The last survey at Angeles National Forest was in 2005. The new survey will update previously gathered information and look at visitor-use trends over time.

The survey information provides recreation managers with an estimate of how many people recreate on federal lands and what activities they engage in there. One-third of the visitors interviewed will be asked to complete a confidential survey on recreation related spending during their trip. Economic data provides information on the impact your visit has on the local economy.

Local forest visitors as well as out-of-area visitors are encouraged to participate. It is also encouraged to submit a survey every visit because it will provide Forest Service employees with additional information.
