The College of the Canyons physics, music and media entertainment arts (MEA) departments will host the presentation “The Power of the Sound,” designed to help audiences better understand the perception, physics, and power of sound in our daily lives.
Hosted by COC physics instructor Antonio Nassar, in collaboration with COC music instructor Bernardo Feldman and MEA department chair Jon Amador, the presentation will show how sound is everywhere in our lives by addressing topics including:
· Cosmic sound
· Sonar
· Medical ultrasound
· The Doppler effect
· Sonic booms
· Acoustic laser
· Fractal musical scale
“The Power of the Sound” presentation will take place from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, May 14, in Aliso Hall room 114, located on the college’s Valencia campus.
This event is part of the college’s ongoing 40th Anniversary celebration. Admission is free, however seating may be limited.
