Water Conservation Recommended To Survive Summer

Community and city asked to work together and cut back.

Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink.

It’s not quite that bad yet, but water conservation is a priority of the Castaic Lake Water Agency and the City of Santa Clarita, which is asking everyone to reduce their water usage by 10 percent this summer.

According to the CLWA, our community uses on average about 600 gallons of water per household each day, which exceeds regional averages.

A public education program is being launched Thursday aimed at reducing outdoor water use in the Santa Clarita Valley.

At 10:30 a.m., officials from CLWA and the City will host an event at Home Depot on Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia that will showcase easy steps, such as using drought-tolerant plants and adjusting sprinklers to save water and money. The City is ready to lead citizens by cutting back its use by 10 percent and setting a good example.
