As early as Monday evening the Santa Clarita Valley could start seeing rainfall lasting through Wednesday, said Robbie Munroe, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

“The bulk of rain will come late Tuesday night into early Wednesday,” Munroe said. “It is still to early to be certain that the rain will come, but right now there is a 55 percent chance to see rain.”

If the storm does happen, it will be the first widespread storm of the season and could potentially bring close to an inch of rain, according to weather officials.

“Snow levels are expected to drop down to ski resort levels,” Munroe said. “We are monitoring the grapevine but it doesn’t appear that it will be affected by the snow.”

The burn areas are always a concern when we get rain, however, it is still to early to know if the rainstorm that is coming will be a concern, Munroe said.

As the storm approaches, weathers officials will have more details on the potential of rainfall.
