A light drizzle began in Santa Clarita early Wednesday morning, contributing to heavy traffic on the freeways surrounding the Santa Clarita Valley.

The drizzle is expected to continue into Wednesday night, with rain and fog predicted after 11 p.m. by officials from the National Weather Service.

“Increasing clouds, with a low around 53,” read a forecast from the National Weather Service. “South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.”

The rain drizzle and fog is expected to continue into Thursday morning. The skies are predicted to be cloudy through mid morning, then gradually clear throughout the afternoon with a high temperature near 70 degrees, according to officials.

The weather is expected to be mostly clear by Thursday evening, with a low temperature around 51 degrees, according to officials.

While officials are not predicting rain for the entirety of the summer, they have advised that residents could expect sporadically gloomy weather for the month of June.

“We’ve got our May gray and June gloom,” said Stuart Seto, a weather specialist with the National Weather Service. “In June, there will definitely be not only overnight clouds, but fog as well.”
