The temperatures in Santa Clarita will be in the 80s through Wednesday, before they start to soar, said Keily Delerme, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

“Starting Thursday, temperatures will be in the high 90s, and Friday and Saturday temperatures will be between 100 and 112,” she said.

Along with the high temperatures, humidity levels are expected to be in the single digits with double digit wind speeds blowing out of the north, causing extreme fire danger for the Santa Clarita Valley.

“With the high temperatures it is important for everyone, especially the elderly, to stay inside or in the shade, and stay hydrated,” Delerme said. “It is also important to keep pets inside, because with the triple digit temperatures the pavement will be hot, which could burn their paws.”

Even though temperatures are expected to be in the triple digits for the entire weekend, the heat wave is temporary.“On Sunday some areas still may see triple digits temperatures, but by Monday temperatures are expected to go back down to the 80s,” Delerme said.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
