[view:node_ad=5] Lt. Mark Hershey told KHTS on Saturday that several people called the sheriff’s station around 9:30 p.m. Friday to report seeing a bear walking in the area of Rancho Adobe Road near McBean Parkway and Avenida Navarre.
Hershey said that Fish and Game officials responded to the area and had the bear in their sights.
Another sighting was reported in Old Orchard Park around 5 a.m. Sunday, when Sgt. Ron Price told KHTS that residents told them they saw the bear up a tree in the park.
Price said that in both incidents, the bear escaped capture.
Sheriff’s officials said that wardens from the California Department of Fish and Game responded to both incidents, but Fish and Game Public Information Officer Harry Morse said that the department had no record of any calls from the Santa Clarita Valley area over the weekend.
