Weekly Nixle Crime Reports Have Been Released For 08/05-08/11

With many Santa Clarita Valley students going back to school this week, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies want to make sure that the new school year is safe for residents across the valley.

On Wednesday they released a Nixle report with back to school tips for parents and students, everything from how to avoid bullies to safety around strangers.

Deputies responded to Valencia High School Friday morning when a girl who had previously been reported missing turned up. She resisted when a deputy and school counselor contacted her, but the incident was resolved quickly.

Motorists driving under the influence continues to be an issue in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Suzette L. Crockett, 46, of Stevenson Ranch, was booked after her 2007 Matrix collided with a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle on Monday. Johnny Sanchez, who was driving the motorcycle, sustained major injuries. Crockett was issued a field sobriety test and subsequently arrested.

Deputies conducted a DUI checkpoint at Railroad Avenue and Oak Ridge Drive on Thursday night that netted four DUI arrests.

Another crash on Tesoro Del Valle that put two Santa Clarita teens in the hospital Tuesday was a result of speeding and no alcohol or drugs were suspected to be a factor.

Los Angeles Police Department officials arrested two Santa Clarita car thieves after they assaulted 56-year-old man and stole his car on Jakes Way Saturday. The vehicle was recovered 90 minutes later and two of the three thieves were arrested. Both of the suspects are juveniles.

Two cases with Santa Clarita Valley suspects were continued in court this week.

Ron Holt, 45, of Castaic, stands accused of attempted murder after he allegedly beat another man in the head with a miniature baseball bat.

Cesar Navarro, of Newhall, is suspected of being a member of the All Out Bombers, which was a factor in his murder of Franco Olea, 28, a member of the Newhall 13 gang.

Below are reports from the different Sheriff zone’s throughout the SCV.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station divides its coverage into five zones for the Nixle reports. They are listed below alphabetical order.

Here’s a summary of incidents that took place in the last week in Santa Clarita (If your zone isn’t listed, keep checking back for updates):

The deputy zone leader for Valencia is on a medical leave, and expected to be back within the next few weeks, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

The crime trends are still being analyzed for that area, and law enforcement resources are being adjusted accordingly.

Canyon Country west

This past week in Zone 7, the following Part-1 Crimes occurred:

(2) Aggravated Assaults, (1) Residential Burglary, (1) Commercial Burglary, (5) Vehicle Burglaries, (1) Shoplift, and (4) Petty Thefts.

An aggravated assault occurred near the 27000 block of Camp Plenty Road. The victim was allegedly chased through an apartment complex and shot at by the suspect. The suspect then fled with several other males in a white, 4-door vehicle. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.

A residential burglary occurred near the 19600 block of Green Mountain Drive. An unknown suspect kicked open a rear door to the residence and took several pieces of jewelry.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 19000 block of Nadal Street. An unknown suspect took the victim’s purse from a classroom and used the victim’s debit card to purchase items from local stores. After follow up investigation by the victim and Santa Clarita Station Detectives, a male and female juvenile were detained and charged with burglary.

Two window smash vehicle burglaries occurred near the 28000 block of Haxton Drive. Taken during the incident was a wallet, a GPS and a small amount of U.S. currency.

A window smash burglary occurred near the intersection of Fairweather Street and Walnut Springs Avenue. It was undetermined at the time of the incident, if anything was taken.

A shoplift burglary occurred near the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Drive. A male suspect was detained by loss prevention personnel after failing to pay for electronic items he concealed in a backpack. The suspect was subsequently arrested by responding deputies.


This week in Saugus there were five Part-1 crimes.

There was a grand theft in the 26500 block of Craftsman Court that was reported this week. However, it occurred back in June. The victim reported that someone had ordered $14,000 worth of merchandise from him. Once the merchandise was delivered the money he received from the transaction was taken out of his account. It turned out that the purchase was made using a fraudulent credit card.

There were two thefts from unlocked vehicles over the past week. The first occurred between sometime Sunday, July 28 and Saturday, Aug. 3. The victim stores his house boat at Saugus Station Storage located at 25655 Springbrook Avenue. He returned to his boat after a week and discovered that someone had stolen miscellaneous items. Entry was made through an open window.

The second theft occurred in the 22500 block of Tula Drive on Wednesday, Aug. 7, between midnight and 7:30 a.m. The victim had her purse stolen from her unlocked vehicle which was parked in her driveway. Detectives are working both incidents.

There was a shoplift burglary from Albertsons, 27631 Bouquet Canyon Road, on Saturday, Aug. 10. Deputies arrested a repeat shoplifter as she exited the store with items concealed in her purse.

Lastly, there was a residential burglary in the 21100 block of Avenida De Sonrisa on Friday, Aug. 9. Deputies responded to a burglary report call and located two individuals sitting in front of the victim’s house. Once they detained the two individuals they found narcotics and property in their possession. After further investigation deputies discovered the property in the suspect’s possession belonged to the victim of the initial call. Both individuals were arrested and booked at Santa Clarita Station.
