The renovations will be done in and around the picnic area.

The picnic area is located on the west side of the park, which many people use for outdoor activities in addition to eating and dog-walking.

“This may be a temporary inconvenience for some visitors to the park, but in just a few short weeks there will be wonderful improvements that will benefit the many patrons who use the picnic grounds,” said Regional Park Superintendent II Norm Phillips. “We recognize what a wonderful resource Hart Park is for the community, and we appreciate everyone’s patience while we undertake these very important renovations.”

According to L.A. County, the renovations will include brand new pavement in the parking lot, new security lights along the picnic road and installation of a new automated irrigation system.

No parking is permitted in the picnic area during the renovation period, however, parking in the main lot is still available and pedestrians are encouraged to park there.

William S. Hart History William S. Hart Ranch

William S. Hart was a successful cowboy actor who often used Newhall Ranch as the set for his popular western films.

Hart began his acting career in the early 1900’s and later died in 1946, leaving his estate to Los Angeles County.

He left his home and ranch for the rest of Santa Clarita residents and the public to enjoy in thanks for the support he received during his career.

The William S. Hart Regional Park was created in honor of the legacy he left in film and in the Newhall Ranch community.

The William S. Hart museum is the home where Hart retired, and sits on top of a hill.

William S. Hart Park includes hiking and nature trails, a large picnic area, a campground, an exhibit of farm machinery, a variety of live animals and an area  of approximately 110 acres of wilderness.
