Wind Advisory In Santa Clarita, Information And Safety Tips

A wind advisory is in effect in Santa Clarita from 4 a.m. -3 p.m. Tuesday, local law enforcement offer residents information and safety tips.

There will be winds north to northeast from 20 to 30 mph with wind gusts up to 45 mph, according to an advisory from The Weather Channel. 

“Winds will increase late tonight and peak late Tuesday morning, then slowly diminish Tuesday afternoon,” said the advisory.

Traffic will be impacted on area roadways, including the 5, 14, and 126, according to the advisory.

The advisory also warns that drivers should use, precautionary/preparedness actions when driving by using extra caution, and being prepared for sudden gusty crosswinds.

Safety Tips

“If you see downed power lines, or any live wires, stay away from them and call 911,” said  Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Dubin also encouraged people to stay informed, whether it be from local news outlets or law enforcement social media accounts.

“If there was a breaking news announcement, it would be posted there,” said Dubin.
