[view:node_ad=5]The Santa Clarita Food Pantry is a local non-profit that’s been helping to feed the hungry in our town for years.
Now that the economy has turned downwards, the organization has been inundated with people seeking their help.
It was with this in mind that City Council member Marsha McLean announced the City’s plans to host a food drive to benefit the Food Pantry.
“During the first half of this year, the Food Pantry has seen a 53% increase in the number of individuals receiving services,” said McLean.
The City’s food drive will run from August 4th to the 29th and will offer up City Hall as a place to drop off non-perishable food items.
Among the most needed items are:
- Canned Meats
- Canned Beans
- Toothpaste
- Canned Soup
- Canned Fruit
- Toothbrushes
- Peanut Butter
- Canned Tomatoes
- Bar Soap
- Dried Soups
- Pasta
- Shaving Cream
- Rice
- Cereal
- Deodorant
- Beans
- Dry Milk
- Feminine Hygiene Products
The Food Pantry serves over 3,600 people in Santa Clarita, half of which are children.
