Shortly after 10 p.m. Friday night, an unidentified woman was hit near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Solemint Road in Canyon Country.

Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station said that the woman allegedly crossed traffic on Soledad against a red light and was struck by oncoming traffic.

She suffered critical injuries and died later at a local hospital.

Hershey said her age was estimated at around 40, but said she still had not been positively identified.
