A woman reported missing by her son and the subject of a large turnout of LA County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue was found safe with her male companion at Lake Piru, more than 12 hours after she was supposed to come home.
The 49-year old woman parked her car Thursday afternoon at Frenchman’s Flat, telling her son she was hiking in Pyramid Lake area. When she did not return Thursday night as expected, her son went looking for her and found the car, but not his mother.
It was not initially known if she was hiking alone or with a companion.
Sheriff’s deputies were called shortly before noon and responded to the area. Because of the area’s proximity to Ventura County wilderness, notification was sent to the Ventura County Sheriff. LA County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue was requested around 1:30 p.m.
Ventura County Park Rangers found the couple at Lake Piru Friday afternoon.
