Car rear-ends fire engine responding to previous crash.
A woman was killed when her car hit the back of a Los Angeles City Fire Department engine on the northbound Antelope Valley Freeway just south of San Fernando Road, according to the California Highway Patrol website.
The engine had responded to an earlier accident involving a patrol car at that location. The victim was described only as a female Hispanic adult, approximately 25 years of age.
Two people, including a police officer, were transported to the hospital from the first accident. Their condition was not available.
The northbound lanes of the freeway were closed for approximately one hour; by 11:00 p.m., 2 lanes remained closed.
Information will be updated as it becomes available.
