Peter Rabbit hopped over for a rare photo opportunity and kids and parents both took advantage of the many of activities offered by the YMCA.
“[The YMCA] has breakfast for people and then we have photos with the Easter Bunny,” Ryan Fowler, Youth Development Program Director, said. “We have crafts, [the kids] are making Easter Bunny masks, and then we have face painting. We’re going to have egg races, egg tosses, and then we will do an Easter egg hunt.”
Kids were well prepared for the day’s main event and many brought their own Easter baskets to ensure an adequate haul from the big hunt.
The egg race split teams of two across a stretch of park and participants carefully ran to their partner with their spoon-bourne, raw eggs.
Fowler said the event was a fun way to bring families together.

“We like to build bonds for the community and provide ways for families to do things to help them grow stronger together, as well as individually,” Fowler said. “We have individual programs for youth, youth enrichment classes, where they can work on their skills. We like to do things where people build their family relationships.”
For those who missed today’s event, Fowler said the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day at Valencia Heritage Park is set for Apr. 26.
“Healthy Kids Day is a really large community event,” Fowler said. “We expect about 500 people. There are a bunch of local healthy business, healthy food vendors, a rock wall, bouncy, human hamsters balls, a firetruck, an ambulance, a blood donation and the [California Highway Patrol] will be there. [The event] focuses on healthy choices and lifestyles for kids and their families.
