There are big changes going on at the YMCA main office on McBean Parkway. The SCV YMCA teamed up with Chris Angelo of Stay Green and Wayne Crawford of Santa Clarita Concrete to create a beautifully renovated backyard for their YMCA site.
Stay Green and Santa Clarita Concrete donated all the goods and services used to build the backyard. New flowers and trees, as well as a flattened landscape have helped to make the backyard perfect for the daily activities of kids, teenagers, and families in the community.
Along with the changes made to the scenery, the YMCA of Santa Clarita is also cutting loose from the outdated ideas of the YMCA and welcoming the re-branding of all the YMCAs across the nation.

After 43 years of the traditional black and red “Y” logo, a “hip” and colorful logo has been created to take its place. The concept and design process for re-branding the Young Men’s Christian Association was one that took about two years and the local YMCA is beginning a crossover campaign expected to take one year.
Christopher Clark, Executive Director of the SCV YMCA, said, “The logo is designed to help us tell the YMCA story. The logo itself is a forward looking logo that reflects the vibrancy, diversity, and heritage of the organization. The new look will help show that YMCA is more than just a logo and a brand.”
The YMCA is also adopting fresh ideas and better ways to present themselves that will focus on three specific areas: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
“The new strategy is designed to increase understanding of the impact we are making in the community.”, said Clark, “So while we’ve changed our appearance to better reflect the work we do and the positive impact we make, we are still supporting the Santa Clarita Valley in the same way we have always had.”
