A 3-year old boy was bitten by a dog and airlifted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Saturday morning.
The boy was attending a family function at his uncle’s house in the 19700 block of Alyssa Drive in Canyon Country. He was in the backyard with other family members, when a family dog, described as an Akita, bit him in the area of his cheek and chin.
There does not appear to be any negligence and it is being handled as an unfortunate accident.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded and made the determination to airlift the child to Children’s Hospital. Deputies assisted in securing a landing zone at the Golden Valley High School.
The injuries are described as non life-threatening. The dog has been surrendered to Animal Control for the time being.
