Weekly awards culminate in yearly celebration.
The City of Santa Clarita’s Anti-Gang Task Force and Mad About Rising Crime (M.A.R.C) with host the 10th annual Hero of the Week Recognition Ceremony on Monday, April 30th, at 7 p.m. at the George A. Caravalho Activities Center, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway in Canyon Country.
Honored students will receive commendations from the City, Mad About Rising Crime, Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, Senator George Runner, California Senator Tom McClintock, United States Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon, along with local businesses.
The Hero of the Week Recognition program, which is founded by volunteers from the Anti-Gang Task Force, will recognize 31 youth for their positive actions in overcoming obstacles in their lives by demonstrating leadership through positive choices they have made.
Eligible Santa Clarita Valley junior and senior high schools students are selected throughout the year by teachers and principals.
