During its first year, the YLC engaged in several fund-raising events such as the Santa Clarita Century and Family Ride, Taste of the Town, the Tee it Up for the Kids Golf Tournament, and Kid Expo.
Three awards were presented during the ceremony. Oriana Garlick was named as Star Volunteer and Nicole Stinson was given the Above and Beyond Award. The President’s Award, a newly-established recognition for a member who has shown outstanding leadership throughout the year, was given to Dawn Hovhannisyan.
“I’m very proud of each and every one of you in this room, and of the outstandingly successful year we had,” said Bauccio.
According to Chegwin, this year the YLC will be focusing on education, volunteerism, philanthropy, board leadership and developing leadership. “Santa Clarita has a huge population of young people, and we have to help develop them towards success in life.”
The next meeting will be on Jan. 11 in the Center’s Board Room. Chegwin asked members to bring at least five friends to the next meeting.
