Zonta Brunch To Honor Women Volunteers

Fifteen women singled out by their nonprofit organizations for donations of time and skills.


Fifteen women representing 14 local community service organizations will be honored at the annual Women in Service Celebration sponsored by Zonta Club of the Santa Clarita Valley. This year’s brunch will be held Saturday, April 5, at Valencia Country Club. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m., and the program will begin at 10 a.m.


Each of the 15 honorees will be celebrated for her contributions to the local community and given an opportunity to explain the mission of her nominating organization. One outstanding honoree will be presented with the Carmen Sarro Community Service Award, named for the charter member of Zonta who personified the ultimate community volunteer before she passed away several years ago.


This year’s honorees and their nominating organizations include Cheryl Carlson, Assistance League of Santa Clarita; Robin Clough, American Association of University Women; Judy Cox and Marjanne Priest, Betty Ferguson Foundation; Joan Densmore, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; Mindy Duffy, Beta Sigma Phi– Xi Tau Tau Chapter; Judy Fish, Child and Family Center Foundation.


Also, Ann Koretz, Family Daycare Association of Santa Clarita Valley; Angela Muhl, Michael Hoefflin Foundation; Gail Rocco-Mack, Soroptomist International of Santa Clarita Valley; Agnes Russell, American Cancer Society; Louise Schultz, Circle of Hope, Inc.; Nancy Starczyk, Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project; Cheryl Wasserman, Golden Oak Adult School; and Jennifer Zimmerman, Pleasantview Industries,
