The Santa Clarita Philharmonic is a community-based, volunteer symphony orchestra. The Santa Clarita Philharmonic is devoted to giving significant musical opportunity and performances for the people in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The Santa Clarita Philharmonic is comprised of specialized, semi-professional, avocational, and students studying music from throughout the Valley. This nontraditional orchestra is considered a non-profit association supported by donations from local individuals and companies that recognize the importance of continuing live music in the community. This may include people that love music, love to watch performances, and people that support the Santa Clarita Philharmonic.

The main goal of the Santa Clarita Philharmonic is to maintain the talent of orchestral music while providing the chance for amateur, retired, professional and student musicians to have an rewarding outlet to showcase their beautiful talent.

The Santa Clarita Philharmonic is dedicated to the enjoyment and appreciation of orchestral music. This is accomplished by providing any musician with the opportunity to play, learn and perform in front of a live audience. Through this shared experience musicians realize self-worth, a spirit of generosity and the potential for growth.

The idea for creating an orchestra was conceptualized in late 2011 by the professional musician, Jeff Lippencott, who than turned out to be the Philharmonic’s first music director and conductor.

After a year of endless planning and contacting local musicians, the Philharmonic had its first rehearsal planned in February 2013. The group started strongly with about 40 dedicated members and continues to have more.

Santa Clarita Philharmonic Concerts

The Santa Clarita Philharmonic offers free classical music concerts to the public at various locations throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, including the Junior High or High Schools with the hopes of one day filling up the PerformingArtsCenter.

Lippencott said in an interview, “I think the community of Santa Clarita consists of many artists, musicians, entertainment professionals and volunteers who would embrace the Santa Clarita Philharmonic not only with attendance but with participation…A community orchestra brings people together in more ways than any professional orchestra could.”
