Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District Proposed Sewer Charge Rate Increase

The Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District is the public agency that takes care of sewage generated in most of the City of Santa Clarita and some of the adjacent unincorporated county area. A major concern for the District is complying with regulatory requirements including the chloride (salt) treatment plant effluent limit imposed due to the possible impact of chloride on salt-sensitive agricultural crops. The District’s Board of Directors is being asked to consider a proposal to increase the rates over the next four years. Half of the increase is necessary to continue to operate the existing facilities, while the other half of the proposed increase is related to regulatory requirements regarding chloride.

We have provided a variety of ways to protest these rate increases, with the information and appropriate form.
