Mayor's Home For Over 30 Years

By Jason Endicott

Santa Clarita's Current 2008 Mayor, and host of Coffee with Kellar on AM-1220 KHTS, Bob Kellar, recently invited us into his home for another Distinguished Home feature. Kellar has lived in his Sand Canyon for over 30 years, and in that time he's added several features, decorations, and furnishings that really help paint a picture of his past, his present, and his future.

The home is set on over 2 acres of land, and the large amount ofspace, particularly in the front of the home, comes in handy when Kellar entertains. String lights across the front yard help add ambience during nighttime gatherings such as parties, fundraisers, and more.

The driveway to the home is shaded by several large oak trees, including Heritage oaks that have stood for probably over 300years.

Another large Heritage oak tree shades and protects the backside of the house, as well as the backyard patio and jacuzzi. During the sweltering Santa Clarita summers, these trees help keep the house and the surrounding areas cool.

The walkway to the front door immediately informs the guest about the theme of the home- country, western, and the greatoutdoors!

Once inside, you enter the spacious living room, where another of Kellar's interests, hunting, comes into focus. You can see several of his trophies on the walls and in various other parts of the house as well.

Maybe this is where Kellar's radio aspirations started? A beautiful old radio sits in the corner

The adornments in Kellar's home office are a testament to hispublic service. This display case displays some of the keepsakes from his 25 year career with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Finally, sitting on top of a cabinet in the kitchen, I spotted this treasure- Bob Kellar's first (and favorite) childhood toy! This toy truck saw a lot of action in Kellar's youth.

Thanks to Bob Kellar for offering us a look at his great Sand Canyon Home!
