Rio Norte Band Repeats Triumph Rio Norte Junior High School’s band earned its fifth first place trophy in a row in the Music in the Parks – Disneyland 2008 competition. Not only did the River Hawks earn first place in their division, but they also won the Esprit de Corps award in their division for the second year in a row. This award is given to the band which best represents its school by the way in which students look, act, and carry themselves—in other words, best spirit. Director Jeff Gilbert builds on his group’s success by working with Rio Norte’s feeder elementary schools to get sixth graders ready for Rio Norte’s music program when they arrive as seventh graders.
