Free Summer Concert Series
The City of Santa Clarita’s FREE summer concert series continues at Central Park every Saturday evening at 7 p.m. This summer is offering the most eclectic music season yet! Bring a blanket and a picnic basket and enjoy a great summer evening listening to fantastic music with your family and friends. Summer Food Drive
The Santa Clarita City Council will host a summer food drive benefiting the SCV Food Pantry during the month of August. Drop offs of non-perishable items can be made at City Hall, The City’s Transit Maintenance Facility or at the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. Community River Rally Set
Join your friends and family for a great community service project. On Saturday, September 20, 2008 the City will host the popular River Rally event from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants will be provided with gloves, collection bags, refreshments, along with giveaways. Visit the Environmental Expo, with over 20 vendors, to learn about recycling, air quality, pollution prevention, water quality; open space preservation, wildlife conservation, and much more! New this year! Ride your bicycle to River Rally and let us watch your bike while you participate! This free bike valet service will be provided courtesy of Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition. River Rally will take place on Wiley Canyon Road-off the Via Princessa Bridge, east of Orchard Village Road. For more information, contact the City at 661-286-4098
VIP Membership for New School Year
Visions in Progress (VIP) is the City of Santa Clarita’s Youth Advisory Committee. VIP contributes their ideas, opinions and recommendations for solutions on City activities, projects, issues and decisions relating to the teens of the City of Santa Clarita. Through VIP, youth have the opportunity to develop leadership skills in addition to learning how our local City government operates. Activities include meeting with City officials and department staff, excursions to various Santa Clarita sites, topical workshops, and community service opportunities. VIP is open to all Santa Clarita Valley high school students, and is always looking for new members.
