Amgen Tour of California 2014
The world famous international Amgen Tour of California will be rolling through Santa Clarita in 2014, tour officials said Tuesday.

This year, Santa Clarita is scheduled to host the start of the sixth stage and the start of the seventh stage.
Specific route details for the 2014 Amgen Tour of California professional cycling race were revealed today by AEG, presenter of the ninth annual event which will once again feature top professional teams and athletes from around the world.
This will be the sixth time Santa Clarita has hosted the event.
“Santa Clarita is thrilled to once again be chosen as a host city for the Amgen Tour of California,” said Mayor Bob Kellar. “Having hosted the race five previous times, we know first-hand what a thrilling and first class event the race is.”

Already considered cycling’s most important and successful stage race in the United States, the 2014 race will return to a route traveling north-to-south along more than 700 miles of scenic roads through some of California’s most picturesque backdrops beginning in Sacramento and winding down toward Thousand Oaks for the final stage.
The course details are expected to be announced early next year.
The multistage, seven-day tour will start Sunday, May 11 in Sacramento near the steps of the state’s Capitol.
Every year, the tour brings millions of tourism dollars to the host cities.
The largest cycling event in American, the Amgen Tour of California is a Tour de France style cycling road race, presented by AEG that challenges the world’s top professional cycling teams to compete along a demanding course. The 12 host city partners for the 2014 Amgen Tour of California include:
• Stage 1: Sunday, May 11 – Sacramento
• Stage 2: Monday, May 12 – Folsom (Individual Time Trial)
• Stage 3: Tuesday, May 13 – San Jose to Mount Diablo
• Stage 4: Wednesday, May 14 – Monterey to Cambria
• Stage 5: Thursday, May 15 – Pismo Beach to Santa Barbara
• Stage 6: Friday, May 16 – Santa Clarita to Mountain High
• Stage 7: Saturday, May 17 – Santa Clarita to Pasadena
• Stage 8: Sunday, May 18 – Thousand Oaks
