Dodgers Manager Talks Baseball Live On KHTS During ‘My Radio Show With Rick Garcia’

Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts discussed baseball and the remainder of the season Friday during “My Radio Show with Rick Garcia” live on KHTS Radio as the team heads for the playoffs.

Roberts played baseball from 1998 until 2008, playing two seasons with the Dodgers from 2002-04 with 243 stolen bases. He then won a world series in 2004 with the Boston Red Sox, said Rick Garcia.

In 2016, Roberts also won “National Manager of the Year” and had 23 postseason wins.

During the show, Roberts talked about the success of the Dodgers and how not making any trades during the trade deadline was a good decision of the team.

“I think sometimes the best move is the move you don’t make,” Roberts said. “What we did by standing pat with what we have internally, I still expect to win a championship here in ‘19.”

Despite the Dodgers having a mix of new upcoming players grouped in with veteran players, Roberts said he’s pleased with what he’s seen from the young athletes.

“These are guys that are really fun to root for,” Roberts said. “With Will Smith coming up with all these big hits and these homers and what he is doing with our pitching staff and having so much success early, he’s apart of really what we’re doing now and going forward.”

As of Friday afternoon, the Dodgers are standing with 72 wins and 39 losses, a 16-game lead in their division, according to officials.

However, with 51 more games to go before the playoffs begin, Roberts is confident the Dodgers will keep their heads up high and enter the postseason strong.

“We don’t deal with complacency,” Roberts said. “Our guys are always trying to get better each day. And this is something we have become accustomed to as far as winning baseball games and staying focused on each day.”

When you get young players, they are hungry to win games, Roberts said, adding that this hunger helps motivate the veterans to keep playing strong.

The next Dodger game is scheduled for Friday at 7:10 p.m., where they face the Padres. Listen live on KHTS AM-1220 and FM 98.1.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
