The free bike valet service is intended to offer an incentive to those who choose the two-wheel form of transportation.

The Santa Clarita Valley Bike Coalition offers rack space to park your bike in a safe and supervised area, monitored by members of the organization.

“Just like parking your car for free or walking into the park for free, you can ride your bike in…and park with us for free,”  said Nina Moskol, chair of the Santa Clarita Valley Bike Coalition. “You don’t have to have it parked out in the grass where someone might trip over it or it might get harmed or damaged.”

Depending on the concert, over 60 bikes are processed and stored by the bike valet service.

“They are supervised by a number of volunteers by the (SCV Bike Coalition),” said Moskol. “We make sure every bike is tagged and  every person who participates with the bike valet has a wristband on so that we know that bike matches with the person who comes back to collect it.”

The group also passes out front and back LED bike lights for those that fill out a survey provided by the Santa Clarita Valley Bike Coalition, according to Moskol.

The SCV Bike Coalition is also involved in a number of bike education and community programs.
“We just want to encourage people to come out and use their bike more frequently as a form of transportation,” Moskol said.

  1. Glad to see that they are handing out LED lights! For people who do not have a light on their bike (and who do not want to fill out their questionnaire), the supervisors of the lots should remind the riders that it is illegal to ride at night without a light.
I am an avid cyclist, and am in big support of those who want to ride to the park. But the concerts end after dark and I saw riders on Bouquet Canyon riding without lights!! Very dangerous!! Please – if you are going to ride at night – get a light! Even if you just have to duct tape a flashlight onto your handlebars – something is better than nothing!!
