FIRE CODE: Tonight marks the third of five meetings with the Flames this season; the Kings have posted a 0-1-1 record against Calgary so far. The Flames are currently on a five-game trip away from Calgary, and have won the first three games of their trip. The Flames are coming off of a 4-3 OT win over the San Jose Sharks Saturday night. The Kings are putting a cap on their seven-game home stand tonight; they’ve posted a 1-2-3 record during their current stint at STAPLES Center.

BACK-UP BERUBE: Jean-Francois Berube, who was recalled from the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday, will back up Jonathan Quick for the second consecutive game. Martin Jones suffered from back spasms over the weekend, and is considered out for the short-term future. In 27 games with the Monarchs this season, Berube has posted a 19-4-3 record with a .920 SV% and a 2.05 GAA.

RETURN OF REGEHR: Robyn Regehr, who suffered a hand injury during the Kings’ 6-4 win over the St. Louis Blues on December 18, will return to the lineup tonight. Regehr skated alongside Alec Martinez on the Kings’ second defensive unit this morning in El Segundo. Regehr has missed the Kings’ last 12 games. In order for Regehr to be able to play tonight, either Martin Jones must be placed on injured-reserve, or Jeff Schultz must be assigned to Manchester. Neither move has been made official; an announcement will be made as game time inches closer.

HOME COOKIN’: The Kings will be finishing what has been a rather frustrating seven-game home stand tonight. With just a single win (1-2-3) through the first six games during their current stint at STAPLES Center, the Kings will be anxious for a win on home ice before venturing back out on the road. Calgary, on the other hand, has been hot on the road as of late, winning their last four games away from Scotiabank Saddledome, and posting a total of 13 road wins this season – the second-highest total in the Western Conference this season.

SHORE UP: Nick Shore, who registered one shot and one hit in 10:35 minutes of ice time in his NHL debut Saturday night, will center the Kings’ second offensive unit with Kyle Clifford and Jeff Carter. It is unclear which forward on the fourth line will be scratched tonight; Jordan Nolan has suited up in each of the previous four games, Andy Andreoff was a healthy scratch Saturday night after playing in two straight games.

THE LAST TIME AROUND: In the Flames’ previous visit to STAPLES Center on December 22, Calgary pulled a late comeback and beat the Kings 4-3 in OT. Trevor Lewis, Marian Gaborik, and Jamie McBain contributed for goals, andJonathan Quick made 24 saves in the loss. The Flames have won their past four games played away from Scotiabank Saddledome, dating back to their previous visit to Los Angeles. Calgary has won 13 games on the road this season, the second-highest total in the Western Conference.
