Santa Clarita Sports: West Ranch Softball Team Wins Two Games In Corona

West Ranch Softball

The West Ranch softball team won two games in the Spring Fling Tournament in Corona.

West Ranch beat Citrus Valley, 9-6, and Grand Terrace 8-5. Lauren Lindvall went 6-for-6 and drove in two runs in the two games.

Keeley Walsh was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in three runs against Citrus Valley.

Jessica Harper hit a two-run double against Grand Terrace to give her team the lead.

West Ranch opens Foothill League play against Hart on Thursday.

In high school baseball, Golden Valley split a pair of games in the Anaheim Lions Tournament. Golden Valley won the first game, 4-3, over Ventura. The Grizzlies lost the second game, 4-2, to Culver City.

Cole Bygum hit a two-run triple against Ventura.

Jordan Garrett went 4-for-7 in the two games.

The Valencia baseball team beat Grossmont, 2-1, in the Boras Classic. The Vikings scored both runs on a pair of sacrifice flies by Hunter Holland and Chad Bible.

Valencia plays Temecula Valley in the Boras Classic on Tuesday.

Master’s College Baseball

In college baseball, The Master’s College lost both games of a doubleheader against Concordia.

The Mustangs, ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, lost the first game, 8-3, and were shut out in the second game, 6-0.

The Master’s College dropped out of first place in the Golden State Athletic Conference standings. Concordia, ranked No. 12 in the NAIA, and San Diego Christian are tied for first place in conference, a half game ahead of The Master’s College.

Los Angeles Lakers

In the NBA, the Lakers beat the Phoenix Suns, 115-99, and won their 25th game of the season. There are only nine games left.

The Lakers take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday.

Los Angeles Dodgers

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the San Diego Padres, 3-1. The Padres scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the game.

The two teams play each other again on Tuesday in San Diego.

Los Angeles Kings

In the NHL, the Kings are home for a game against the Minnesota Wild tonight. The Kings have won six games in a row and are coming off a 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.

About Kyle Jellings

Kyle Jellings grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and graduated from Canyon High School in 2004. Following his high school career he spent three years at College of the Canyons where he graduated with his Associate's Degree. Kyle then traveled to Utah where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Communication: Journalism emphasis from Utah Valley University.
