Three Foothill League Football Teams Continue CIF Playoff Push

Three football teams from the Foothill League are still alive in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division playoffs.

Valencia, the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, is on the road against Arroyo Grande for their second-round match-up.

The Vikings beat Redondo Union, 38-17, in the first round. Arroyo Grande shut out Quartz Hill, 40-0, in its first-round game.

Santa Clarita High School Football Playoffs

The Hart football team is home for a game against Palos Verdes at College of the Canyons. Hart won its first-round game, 56-35, over Paso Robles.

Palos Verdes, the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, eliminated Righetti, 63-16, in the first round.

The Saugus football team takes on Mira Costa at Canyon High School. Saugus, the fourth-place team from the Foothill League, beat Atascadero, 34-27, in the first round.

Mira Costa advanced to the second round after eliminating Highland, 34-6.

The Trinity Classical Academy football team takes on Desert Chapel in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 8-man playoffs.

Trinity advanced after taking out Noli Indian, 71-6, in the quarterfinals.

College of the Canyons Sports

In college volleyball, the College of the Canyons women won the Western State Conference championship by beating Bakersfield College, 3-1.

The COC women await playoff seeding on Saturday.

In college basketball, the College of the Canyons men lost to Cerritos College, 81-74, in the Irvine Valley Tournament. COC dropped to 2-2.

The Master’s College men beat UC Merced, 83-70.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In the NBA, the Clippers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder, 105-91. Next up for the Clippers are the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.

In the NHL, the Kings lost to the visiting New Jersey Devils, 2-1, in overtime.

The Kings take on the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night.
