Micaela Bensko launched her blog MoanaVida.com in 2013, focusing primarily on her transition from celebrity photographer to professional patient. Her entries filet her health challenge with unbridled candor and humor while following her journey through spine surgeries and a progressive loss of mobility. Bensko’s ‘Open Letter to the Entertainment Industry’ received national attention, requesting humanity in entertainment business practices.
She is completing her memoir, The Beauty In Being Raw. As a photographer, Bensko was featured as a leader in her field by Professional Photographer Magazine and is currently editorial writer for KHTS Hometown Station for The Santa Clarita Valley.
Her work has appeared at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and has been the subject of an Emmy Award winning FOX News segment. Bensko is also Vice-President of Rebuilding America’s Warriors (http://www.RebuildingAmericasWarriors.org) providing free reconstructive surgery to wounded troops returning from war. Bensko is married to Producer Don Bensko. They have four children, and two dogs, one of which thinks it’s a rabbit.
