I started off life in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies. At 18 months old, my parents packed up and moved to Orange County, California. I became a naturalized American Citizen in 1971.
My childhood was spent in Tustin. We “moved on up” 10 miles down the road to Irvine when I was fifteen years old. This October, Irvine High School is having our 30-year Class Reunion. (Only two years early, but who’s counting)
I sought higher learning and received a degree in Sociology/Criminology from Cal State University Northridge.
In 1982, (who knows what I was thinking) I became a Reserve Police Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department under the tutelage of one Sgt. Bob Kellar. I was with the department for 5 years in the West Valley Division.
The legal profession called to me and I became a certified Paralegal after a year at UCI . I worked mainly in Family Law.
The first law firm I worked at was Masry & Vititoe. I worked directly for Edward L. Masry (of Erin Brockovich fame) I stopped working for Mr. Masry approximately 2 years before Erin started. Geez, if I had only dug a little deeper into those files…
I have been married to the wonderful Dr. Ron Singer for 10 years. Together we have six children who give me a lot to be proud of: Samantha does hair and make-up at Priscilla’s Hair Salon. Sydney is a recent graduate from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Landon (named for Michael Landon) is a junior at Canyon High and plays rugby. Logan and Skylar are identical twins. They are sophomores at Canyon High and are both on the golf team. Layne is a second grader at Sierra Canyon and loves his two dogs, Lobo and Dakota!
I spend a good part of my day driving children hither and yon, grocery shopping and writing “Our Hometown Stories.”
In a nutshell, I love to:
- Root for the underdog;
- Read anything historical about the Tudors, India or submarines;
- Play Indoor soccer with my 71 year old dad;
- Go to Toby Keith concerts;
- Decorate my home like it’s Halloween all year long;
- Drink tea; and
- Enjoy the company of my close friends.
Doesn’t get much better than this!
