Did you know Valencia has its very own semi-pro hockey team, here in Santa Clarita?!?

One of the best deals in town is the Valencia Flyers Tier III Junior A Hockey Club playing out of the beautiful Ice Station Valencia!

The team is made up of 16-20 year old players from all over the globe; including Canada, Russia, Austria, Norway, Australia to name a few. The team competes in the 13-team Western States Hockey League’s Western Division against teams from San Diego, Long Beach, Bakersfield, Fresno, Phoenix and Peoria, Arizona and Boise, Idaho.

The Flyers have enjoyed plenty of success in recent years and look to build upon last season with the addition of new Head Coach Trevor Sack.

Sack comes to the Flyers from the Flin Flon Bombers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in Canada, where he has been coaching since 2008.

Sack brings to Valencia an extensive coaching background within the Canadian Junior and Major Midget ranks. His experience includes Major Midget AA, AAA, Bantam AAA, Saskatchewan Junior All Star teams as well as Saskatchewan U16 Select teams. Sack has had success moving his players on to both Division I and Division III college hockey programs in the United States, Canadian University hockey programs as well as Major Junior and the Semi-Pro ranks.

Sack has already made his mark in recruiting by bringing in tons of local talent, as well as recruiting out of market players to bolster his already potent lineup.

The Flyers have many changes in store for the 2010-2011 season including new ticketing options and a VIP Lounge dubbed the “Frequent Flyers Club” for season ticket holders. Tickets are as low as five dollars per game and ticket packs are available for full season for an even larger discount!

Many new in-game promotions and giveaways will also be debuted this season!

The Flyers road to the WSHL Thorne Cup begins in Phoenix in mid-September and the 21-game home schedule opens on October 1st as the Flyers welcome in the perennial power Idaho Jr. Steelheads for a three-game weekend set.
